To all:

I have received multiple texts, emails, calls and FB messages questioning if my email got hacked last night. I decided I better give some explanation when both my mom and dad questioned yesterday's email validity.

The emails sent yesterday were real and intentional.

My son, Brandon, has decided to partake in an incredible community service project through "Build On". I knew nothing about Build On until one month ago when Brandon came home from school and told us that he had joined the Build On club at school. He went on to explain that he intended to travel to Africa this summer with Build On and help construct a school in an impoverished village. 

You can imagine Orly's and my initial response. After all, there are plenty of community service opportunities much closer to home.

However, Brandon was persistent, determined and sound in his resolve to take on this task. Since then, we have learned a lot about Build On and the work that they have accomplished in some of the most desperate parts of the world. To date, Build On has completed 934 schools in Haiti, Senegal, Mali and other countries. They have a strong service record with excellent support staff. After significant research and discussion, Orly and I support Brandon's decision to go to Malawi this summer.

And so, Brandon came to me last night asking for email addresses of friends and family for try to raise funds for this commitment. I decided "Heck, why not send it out to all my email contacts?" You never know who might be inspired to contribute. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Having never sent an email to 1600 recipients, I first sent out a Test email. Turns out, you can only send 500 at a time! Brandon then replied to all with his message.

I apologize if the emails confused or concerned you. That was not the intent.

I am compelled to help these people. I want to help the people of Malawi and countless others in any way I can. Build On gives me the opportunity to go on this trip to help the people of Malawi. This trip doesn’t only include constructing a school for approximately 10 days, but it also includes learning about Malawian culture and religion and bonding with the villagers of Malawi. In order to go on this trip I must fundraise $5500 to cover travel expenses and building supplies. Please help me reach my goal and help the villagers of Malawi!
