I have a 33-year-old previously sedentary patient who over the last month has experienced L >R lower extremity paresthesias and pain within 1 mile a running which goes away within minutes of rest.  The pain is too severe to continue running.

On exam, she has no focal areas of tenderness on her tibia/fibula, nor does she have findings of medial tibial stress syndrome.  She has good pulses, good color without any signs of skin breakdown.

I'm concerned about exertional compartment syndrome of the lower extremities.

Does anyone know of a provider in the DFW area who I could refer to get her compartment pressures measured?

Thanks

Jason,

I am in the Colleyville/Grapevine area and we do lots of compartment syndrome testing.  Our foot/ankle guy just did one of my recreational runners last week as a matter of fact.  I use the stryker system and we have had good results.  I would be happy to test her for you and then let you discuss treatment options with her.

Sincerely,

I do pre and post exercise comp testing at our Richardson facility

But with only a month of sx I’d do rehab, look at footwear and fitting,  running mechanics, etc before jumping to comp test.

I generally look at comp testing as a preoperative confirmatory test.
