Anyone know of a store/business in the DFW area that sells wooden mouldings
for picture frames? Michaels/Hobby Lobby type stores are ridiculously
expensive, and Lowes/Home Depot stores sell moulding - but not *picture
frame* moulding.

I've found some places online, but would rather buy locally so I can pick
the style in person and not have to have it shipped.

Thanks!

And if you find a good local source, please share the information.
We've got gobs of artwork around the house that isn't framed because
it is too expensive to have done!:~(

There is a place in Richardson near the Tom Thumb on Coit and Campbell that
I have used....they have a lot fo framing material on display, I don't know
how cheap they are since all I had them do was cut down some existing frames
for me, but they do very good work. I can't remember the name, but it is in
the strip mall on the east side of the Tom Thumb building.

The Tom Thumb closed many years ago... but a rather large CVS took it's
place. The poster / frame shop is still there.

I know which one you are talking about Al, but that is not the one I was
referring to, that one is at Campbell and Hillcrest I believe....this one is
at the newer Tom Thumb they built to replace that one, and it is at Coit and
Campbell on the NE corner. I have seen the trucks of the other guy you ar
referring to, but I can't remember the name and I have never used him so I
can't make any recomendation.....but the graphics on the trucks are funny.

See if "The Great Frame Up" on the SE corner of Parker & Custer can help
you out. They're pretty new but I popped in to see what they're like and
they seem to have a good selection. Pricewise, I couldn't help you.

There is also one next to the Minyards at Arapaho and Jupiter in the north
end of the center. I don't know anything about their pricing.

Good luck, Phill

If you would like to buy picture frame moulding from the source (not a
retail store), please contact me. Located in Carrollton,
approximately 700 mouldings to choose from. You can take lengths of
mouldling with you, but if you want chop service you might have to
wait a day or two.

My grandfather made a few frames for paintings for me using baseboard
molding. He just stained them to match the room. They look pretty
good. And are fairly cheap. So far, no one's noticed, and the people
that I have told were pretty impressed on how good they looked.
Just a suggestion.
