I think that someone makes an optical out connector that I can plug
into a 4-pin S/PDIF header on my motherboard.... I think....

does anyone know where I can find something like this locally... or if
these things really exists...

This guy is in Austrailia, but looks like he's got some good reference info,
so maybe you can get some help finding what is compatible with your board.
