What restaurants in the DFW area were said to be good or even excellent but
didn't stand up to their reputation when you visited them? It could be bad
service, bad food quality, bad atmosphere, or a combination of these.
For me two stand out in memory. My visit to Denton County Independent
Hamburger Company was very disappointing. I was told they were excellent,
but when I went my burger was cold, and the person I was there with had the
same experience. It tasted flat and greasy instead of like a top quality
burger that I was told I'd get.
I also had a negative experience with Uncle Julio's, where I got adversarial
service and bland and tepid food.
Trulucks. Smelly, bad, cold food, over-crushed crabs, overpriced crappy rest
of menu. The one in Houston looks and feels much nicer, but the food still
fails to meet the price point.

Bob's and Silver Fox - felt I paid for alot more than I got.
Mortons - I paid alot for alot, but the former alot was more than the
latter alot.
Adversarial service - I like it. I hope you were victorious. Myself,
love Uncle Julio's (chips, salsa, queso, and fajitas only - otherwise, I
find their menu unremarkable).

Denton County Independent Hamburger Company has always had questionable
beef. When I worked on the Square, it was pretty much the only restaurant
that was close, so I just had to gulp and run. The fries were always iffy
as well.

You're probably not asking about national chains, but: Chipotle.
Everybody I know loves this place. I can't stand it. I'm not
sure why - Baja Fresh, with a similar concept, is just fine by
me.

I'll second Silver Fox - the Grapevine location. It remains the worst
service I have ever had in a full-service restaurant, and I know I have
expanded on that here before.

Went Sunday (allen location) and had the Camarones Brochette and it was
VERY good.
