Greetings,
Why not get right to the point - I am writing to you today because LaNelia and I need your help and support.
I am asking you to do just 3 simple things:
1. Read this email
2. Watch this short video (LaNelia is in it a couple of times) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdwA71bUGOo&feature=youtu.be
3. Choose to make a difference by signing up for the walk, donating your time, or make a much needed donation
100% of all funds raised goes to the TBS organization, administered by its all-volunteer staff. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
As you are aware, our son Michael lost his life to suicide on June 12, 2010. With the support of family and friends, we were not alone in our grief journey.
2 years ago LaNelia began facilitating a support group for those who lost loved ones to suicide and now also serves as President of Touch by Suicide, a local 501c non-profit organization.
For most people, this lifeline is the only support available to them, and despite the emotional toll it takes on LaNelia, she knows she is making a real difference in the lives of those she touches, as this kind of support is rare and the need continues to grow.
This year, on November 7th, Touch by Suicide will conduct their 10th annual walk to raise funds for the incredible work this organization does. The walk also serves as a time of remembrance, a vehicle to build awareness to talk about “IT” (watch the video), and much needed support for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.
Funds raised from the walk will be used to support TBS Support Groups including books and material provided freely to those in need, and work towards the prevention of suicide by supporting local school programs and our newest support group, TBS4Teens, a program for those aged 13 to 17, as suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among 15-24 year olds.
More people now die by suicide than in car accidents each year, and we need to do more to build awareness for reducing the impact suicide has on our society and in our communities.
The Touch by Suicide organization needs your help, please consider doing something to help this worthy cause.
If you have any questions about this organization please email LaNelia or myself, or call me at 214-960-9967 and we would be happy to discuss it with you.
THANK YOU!!!!!
John
