Here at Dropbox, we’re all about making your life easier.
Today, we're introducing two new ways to do just that:
file requests and the Dropbox badge.

File requests

Ever wanted to collect files from multiple people? Whether it's photos from an event, reports from students, or slides from coworkers, you probably had to sort through multiple emails and attachments, hoping you didn't miss anything. Now, there’s a better way.

With file requests, you can request and receive files from anyone, and they’ll go right into the Dropbox folder you specify. Here’s how it works:

  • Get files from anyone: Anyone can send you a file, even if they don’t have a Dropbox account
  • Easily receive large files: Unlike most email attachments, you can request files up to 2 GB
  • Keep your files handy and secure: Files submitted to you via file requests will be easily accessible on all your devices, but just to you — people who send you files via your file request can't see files uploaded by others (unless you choose to share them), and can’t access your Dropbox

The Dropbox badge

If you’ve ever worked on a Microsoft Office file and then shared it with others, you know that it’s not always easy to manage what happens next. Different versions get created, feedback gets scattered, and every time you want to re-share the file you have to go into your folder system to find the latest version.

That process just got easier. The next time you open an Office file in the Excel, PowerPoint, or Word program on your computer, the Dropbox badge will be waiting for you on the right side of your file. It's a handy tool designed to help you easily move your project forward, right from the file you're working on. You can:

  • Easily share the file you're working on
  • Ask for feedback or contributions by commenting on the file
  • View file history to go back in time and find content you’ve already changed or deleted
