RENO, Nev.—Pre-race
activities for next month’s legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 officially launch
this weekend at the special SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit at the Lucas Oil Off-Road
Expo. SCORE’s enhanced area in Building 5 at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. on
Saturday and Sunday will include a live start draw for the majority of the
classes in this year’s race and the unveiling of this year’s official course map
for the granddaddy of all desert races. The Off-Road Expo is a public exposition
that will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on
Saturday.
SCORE’s enhanced area
in Building 5 at the Off-Road Expo will offer desert-racing fans the opportunity
to interact with the top desert racing teams in the world while viewing the most
radical motorsports vehicles ever developed. SCORE Baja racing legends will also
be on hand to enhance the race fan experience.
Over 250
entries, from 25 countries and 40 U.S. States are expected to compete in this
year’s 47th annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. SCORE
is celebrating its 41st year as the world’s foremost desert racing organization
in 2014. This year’s race, to be held Nov. 11-15, will be a peninsula run of
nearly 1,200 miles down Mexico’s majestic Baja California peninsula, starting in
Ensenada, Baja California and finishing in La Paz, Baja California
Sur.

DRAWING/MAP UNVEILING
In addition to
showcasing current SCORE desert racing vehicles, drivers and sponsors, the
official Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 course map for the race will also be unveiled by
SCORE officials on Saturday at 3 p.m. (PT) along with the annual class starting
positions draw for all classes except SCORE Trophy Truck and Class 1. SCORE
Trophy Truck and the unlimited Class 1 will have special qualifying
for the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in early
November.

& GREET
Crowd favorite
autograph sessions will also be taking place both Saturday and Sunday from noon
to 2 p.m. (PT) with many of the stars of the sport, both past and present who
have built their legacy in the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Among the SCORE Baja legends scheduled
to be part of the autograph sessions/photo ops on both Saturday and Sunday are
current SCORE owner, SCORE Baja 1000 overall race winner Roger Norman, former
SCORE owner Sal Fish, Ivan ‘Ironman’ Stewart, B.J. Baldwin, Rob MacCachren, Gus
Vildosola Jr., Steven Eugenio, Colton Udall, Robby Bell, Jonathan Brenthel,
Jordan Brenthel, Justin Davis, Justin Lofton, Matt Parks, Ricky Brabec, Nick
Hamm, Jessie Williamson, Brian Shaleen and Robert Acer. SCORE expects some other
‘surprise’ SCORE Baja racing legends as well for the two autograph
sessions.

While many SCORE race
vehicles will be spread out at the Off-Road Expo in various sponsor exhibits,
scheduled to be part of the SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit the No. 7 Galindo Motor
Sports SCORE Trophy Truck (driven by Steven Eugenio), the Brenthel Racing Class
6100 truck (Jonathan Brenthel/Jordan Brenthel, the Green Army Class 10 open
wheel race car (Justin Davis), the Fusion Off-Road Trophy Truck Spec vehicle
(Brian Shaleen), the JaggedX Polaris UTV (Matt Parks), the No. 4x THR
Motorsports Kawasaki open motorcycle (Ricky Brabec/Robby Bell), the Warrior
Built Honda sportsman motorcycle (Nick Hamm/Jessie Williamson). This special
feature will also celebrate SCORE’s heritage with the legendary BFGoodrich Tires
Blazer that took Frank “Scoop” Vessels to a class victory in the 1980 Tecate
SCORE Baja 1000.

Additional highlight
of the SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit will be the SCORE Monster Energy Cinema,
featuring SCOREvision, massive multiple LED screens showing race telecasts that
have aired on the CBS Sports Network as well as historical race videos that are
part of the legendary legacy of SCORE Baja racing. Monster Energy hostesses will
be on hand throughout the weekend welcoming guests to the SCORE Baja 1000
exhibit.

The 2014 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo is the

The SCORE Baja 1000 exhibit
at the Expo will include live internet coverage both days on SCORE DirtLive HD
with interviews with the SCORE Baja legends as well as the live internet
coverage of the start drawing and course map unveiling. Hosting the coverage
will be the George Antill, the popular show’s creator, producer and primary
announcer.
CBS SPORTS NETWORK COVERAGE
All races
in the 2014 SCORE World Desert Championship series, along with the special SEMA
SCORE Baja 1000 Experience and qualifying for the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 from
Las Vegas Motor Speedway, are televised on a delayed basis in the USA and Canada
as a one-hour special on the CBS Sports Network. The shows, produced by SoCal’s
acclaimed BCII TV, air a minimum of two times on the CBS Sports Spectacular
show.
All
shows are scheduled to premier in the next month following the event. The
success of the productions has enabled CBS Sports Network to
air multiple airings of the first three 2014 races. The SCORE San Felipe 250 had 17 extra
airings, the SCORE Imperial Valley 250 had five extra airings, and the SCORE
Baja 500 garnered seven hours of extra airings in CBS Sports Network. Following
