I'm using stylizer v4.3 on win XP sp3. I've run into a problemwith a single site. I built the site a couple years ago, and usedStylizer to do some of the CSS fine tuning without issue. When Isent to edit the site today, the site loads in stylizer and i seethe page, but NONE of the CSS loads. The site is www.dmcpower.com. I am more thanperplexed. All other sites load the CSS without issue. What wouldcause a sites CSS not to be visible - the the page renders justfine...?? I've attached a screen dump of Stylizer, its clear to seethat there is no css files loaded. yet the page has 10 or so CSSfiles...

That usually happens when there is an issue with the page resources being available. Stylizer loads the page into the preview pane first, and when the DOM is ready, loads the CSS into the grid. Just looking at the load of your page, it appears that you're missing a number of resources, including:

I'd also like to note that from a usability and even an SEO standpoint, simply embedding another site inside of an iframe is not really recommended practice. If you have the two domains registered and you'd like your .com to point to your .net, you're much better doing this with DNS records. Then, whenever somebody goes to either domain, they'll end up at .net seamlessly.

I've not used Chrome yet (I struggle with YAB - Yet Another Browser), but if
they've got better tools than firefox, I'd love to know about it. I was
really confused because firebug showed all the css as it should be.

Subject: Re: Site does not load CSS? [Problems]

We use Chrome here in the office, and I do like its development tools a little bit better than Firebug's, unless I have to do JavaScript debugging. I think that Chrome's JS debugger still needs a bit of polish.

That said, if you load up Chrome, hit the wrench icon, and select Tools > Developer Tools from the menu, you'll find a panel called Resources that looks like a mix between a horizontal bar graph and iTunes. With it open, reload your page, and you can see each of the resources that the page relies on (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, images, etc) being downloaded, how long they take to download, and what order they come down in. That will give you an idea of how your site is functioning with respect to speed. There is an add-on to Firebug called Y-Slow that provides a similar output, and I think that Safari has one too.

Next, in that same developer tools menu, head over to the Scripts tab (I know I said that I don't like the JS debugger, but it is good for this one thing...) and at the bottom of the panel, hit the button with the arrow and the horizontal lines to open up the JavaScript console (the icon sucks, but the tooltip on it says Show Console). If you reload your page with this view open, it will complain about every resource that's missing, and any JavaScript execution errors, which is how I found out about the 404s and your XSS problem.

If you open it up and load your page in any browser (including in Stylizer), you can see the requests that it makes of the web server, and the responses that come back. This will let you decode complex traffic problems including failed DNS requests and the like.
