Hi patrick,

i have been trying to group the windows of my model inside one single group, so that i could single them out to apply materials in the latter stages.

1) Right now, i managed to create a model with window holes,
2) then i created the window panels by attaching a hole node after that, using the unbridge to create the panels.

What i tried to do, was that i placed a group inbetween model_with_holes node and hole node, in an attempt to group all the primitives, before it is unbridged by the hole node with window panel.
[model_with_holes]-------[group]--------[hole]

However, i find that the polygon (window panels) created by the hole node to be included inside the group, by the group node that i placed before the hole.
Thus, i was unable to group them apart.

is that any way i can single out the additional polygons that the hole node has just added? Have a look at my attached file.

Thanks
tungsing

There are a number of problems:
1) You are still putting spaces in your file names. This is not a good idea! No spaces please!
2) Your network is much too complex and messy - you should only see max 30 nodes at any one time.
3) You need to give ALL your nodes descriptive names so that its is easier to understand what is going on
4) You are still turning the model on its side (and then turning it back to z=up later). You need to fix this.
5) You can create groups in your cookie node. Just click on the groups tab.

PS This news group is not about Houdini. Please only ask Houdini questions is they are related to Dexen. For questions purley about Houdini, please use the Houdini news group (see http://sidefx.com)

Did you have a look at my file - it shows how to do the grouping.
