Hi, patrick,

I am facing problems starting dexen-server, i keep getting a DLL load
failed with error code 193.
I am currently using windows 7 64bit, with houdini 11 64bit.

I heard that it is due to a compatiblity issue with The DLLs being 32
bit. The solution is to use the 32 bit version of Python. But we are
unsure of how to go about it.

Will you be able to fix the 64bit compatiblity issue? Many of us, such
as me and bryan.... have the same issue.

thank you and regards.

Can you try installling 32 bit Houdini. (You don't need to uninstall the 64 bit version.) The 32 bit version will work fine on 64 bit windows.

Then make sure you change the environment variables (as explained in the readme file) to point to the 32 bit houdini.

Then test again to see if it works.

In order to fix the problem with 64 bit houdini, can you post the error message you get about the DDL load fail. It is probably something to do with a missing DLL.

OK - now I see what the problem is.

The multiprocessing library is one of the libs used by dexen - and the version for 64 bit python is different from the one for 32 bit python. I will talk to Cihat and try to find a solution.

For the moment, I suggest that you install Houdini 32 bit, and use that instead. (Here at home, i am running it this way - 64 bit windows + 32 bit Houdini.) Let me know if that works.
