Dear all,

We are looking to collaborate with fellow theology collections, in order to expand the Christian Orthodox perspective in DDC.
Until now, our joint efforts with the EPC  have yielded  3 new classification analyses, now fully incorporated in WebDewey:
  1. 239.94 in Christian apologetics, for the phenomenon of Neopaganism
  2. a further analysis in 248.24, to include conversion within Christianity to specific denominations, e.g. Orthodoxy, and
  3. a new manual note in 281.9, which allows for linking each autocephalous Orthodox Church to its jurisdictions.
We welcome any discussion that reflect an inter-Orthodox perspective in the 200's, e.g. to add notation from 281-289 to 272.9 for modern persecutions by denomination, in order to represent Orthodox Christians persecuted under the Ottoman rule, and respectively during the Soviet era in Russia.
We would also like to hear any suggestions on how to expand Orthodox Liturgics 264.019, especially any views from collections with Russian and Slavic focus on this.

Best regards,
f. Prodromos

Hello everyone!

Lately, we, and some fellow libraries, have been entertaining the idea of creating a Google group/mailing list among institutions using DDC to classify religious collections, who would be interested in exploring further the religion/theology (Christian Orthodox and other) perspective in Dewey.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this, as well as any information on institutions/individuals who would be interested in such project, as DDC-classified religious collections are somewhat rare.

Warmest regards,
father Prodromos
