Hi Everybody

Would like to thank Prashant to add me to the group!

Just wanted to bounce of an idea and build a team to build a product together. This product is primarily built to reduce carbon footprint and reduce the number of vehicles on the road. Basically a car-pooling solution; which can be piloted first at closed communities (Housing Complexes, Corporates), where there is a thread of commonality and familiarity and then open it up for the city.

The key product should be simple to use, free and should clearly involve a lot gamification (identify key savers of carbon footprint in the city, have a correlation between carbon credit savings which drives donation to orphanages)

We can create a version 1 and look at piloting it at a society with over 1200 apartments and then take it from there.

I have tried to encapsulate all the information into a simple note. Would love to hear feedback and whether we can take this forward.

Thanks

Hey Akhilesh,
Welcome to the group.

Quick notes and feedback from personal perspective -most of which you already may have thought of:
* I know a guy in Delhi whom I'd helped refine aspects of a similar idea to build a business around it. If you want, I can try and reconnect with him
* Your idea to launch on a small scale first is very smart. Every thing needs to be done in stages, gather info, and refine for a larger audience
* I'm not a big fan of completely free things. Keep it nominal, but charge something. That way you become self-sustainable and keep bothersome people away
* End user doesn't care of reducing carbon footprint. He needs a good solution. These numbers are important, but they should drive your decisions and not be projected to the end users as primary distinguishing feature of your product
* Thinking about donating the earnings to orphanages is nice, but you can't not make money and keep it sustainable (Aah, my love for double negatives)
* You'll need to keep safety of people in mind while designing your product as well

You should come to the next Devthon and hack a minimal mobile version of the app. I'm sure the community would be happy to assist.
