Hello!  We are exploring custom fields and expanding our understanding of just what's possible in Targetprocess to much amazement but we're looking for a bit of help to make some information more readily available to our PM's.  What I'm after is the following:L

A formula for a calculated custom field in our iterations that adds up the values from a specific and shared custom field on all tasks and user stories in that iteration.
So every user story and task we create has a custom field on it with a number.  What I would like is to have a custom calculated field in each iteration that displays the sum of all of those custom fields in all of the tasks and user stories that are within that iteration.

Do-able?

Hello

Unfortunately we don’t support cases like this. Historical background is the following. We added calculated custom fields (CCF) to give people abilities to calculates very simple metrics like A+B. We didn’t expect that they would try to use it to calculate very complex parameters. That’s why now some calculations may look very complex because it was not design for such a complex cases. When we realize that there is  big demand, we decided do not  improve  CCF, but create a separate module Metrics which will be designed for complex calculations. This feature is in progress and is being developed for more than  half a year.  As you know we don’t have estimates in Targetprocess, so I cannot say when it will be ready, but my gut feeling says me that we will have it somewhere in fall 2016. In this feature you will be able to make such a calculation.

Meanwhile you can vote for this idea on our user voice. This will increase its priority https://tp3.uservoice.com/forums/174654-we-will-rock-you/suggestions/14599299-calculated-custom-fields-unable-to-aggregate-by-r

In comments you can also find some work around.

Hi Ryan,

I'd like to add that you can get the total number for Iteration with the help of Custom Graphical report:
Here 'Cost' is the name of my number custom field, which is common for Tasks, Bugs and Stories.
You can export the report to get all the numbers in Excel table for further processing.

More about graphical reports is available at https://www.targetprocess.com/guide/reports/custom-graphical-reports/

Hope this helps,
Julia.
