opening .dat file in visit to visualize

Here is what I am doing step wise to open the .dat file on visit, I don't know what to do as I am not getting any visuals. Guide me !

I am able to open and visualize the .dat file using tecplot360 software but it is paid one and only 5 days free trial version is available!

Hi,

In the 4th figure, you need to click the "Add" button in the Plots section.
Add->Mesh->mesh

Once you have added the desired plot type, you need to click:
Draw

This only shows the mesh. You can visualize the fields by creating a
Pseudocolor plot.
