how to remove spam

Dear DevPrag List,
The info-childes list was also spammed by this junk and it took
me awhile to figure out how to
block it. I forget who is managing the devprag list, but I would be
happy to help them get this
cleaned up. Google doesn't help a lot on this and there are few email
postings, but basically,
you need to
1. go into manage groups mode
2. go to "Access" and turn off the ability of users to upload files
and pages. This is unfortunate,
but clearly someone had subscribed to the list who was a spammer. It
is difficult to figure out who
this person might be, so just block this for now.
3. Then you have to remove the junk. Most of it is in the welcome
message. You open the welcome message and delete everything. To
delete, you have to turn on editing and then select options
and finally delete.
4. Then do the same for the "pages" and the "files". Even if
something is called "unnamed" you want to delete it.

Dear DevPrag List,

Wow, this was ugly! Thank you Brian for your emergency aid. I hope I
removed everything. Whenever you find something of this kind, let me
know immediately, so that I can remove it as quickly as possible.
For now, I disabled the "upload files and pages" function. So, if you
want to upload something - send it to me and I will put it up for you.
