Voting process enhancements, may I suggest

The NFC voting process is great.

There was also sessions where the speaker's team used the NFC app to "register" the attendee

Nice but I've experienced some difficulties :

1- what if you do not change room between sessions !!
2- sometimes it's too crowded (or we are too much in a hurry) to vote

3- sometimes it didn't worked (session about chrome dev tools)

As an improvement I've suggestions :

a- "physically" load balance the voting stands (as Stephan suggested as a joke in the key note)

    - one stand in the room like it is now and

    - another one maybe before the door

this could solve points 2 and 3

b- enhance the mobile app (Devoxx wristband) to have the ability to vote to a session

   - ex : when recognized by the app (NFC involved) chose a menu like 'vote' allowing you to choose one session then validate your choice

this could solve all points (1,2 and 3)

Concur with the author. Granted, the voting machines are cool, but not very practical after all. I think adding a vote option in the various Devoxx schedule applications would be better. Maybe, using an activation code each participant was sent with the invitation ?

The voting mechanism as an experiment and we can enhance this enormously, give it a couple of iterations and we'll have some scary stuff  :)

Adding voting and favorites to the mobile schedule clients & server is on our list.  
And yes, Activation code or GEO fence could be used to avoid spamming.
