Hare Krishna.

We invite you all for the Panihati Chida-dahi Mahotsava celebrations at Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir, Bhaktivedanta Swami Marg, Vrindavan on June 11, 2014, 6 pm onwards.

Panihati is a place located in the state of West Bengal, on the banks of Ganges (10 miles north of Calcutta). From the sixteenth century this place became a major center of Vaishnavas. Nityananda Prabhu stayed in this place for a few days and at that time Raghunath Dasa Goswami met him. Nityananda Prabhu ordered him to conduct a festival by distributing prasadam delicacies made of chipped rice (chida) and yogurt (dahi) to all the devotees. This festival is celebrated every year.

Celebrations at Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir

Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir celebrates this festival every year with grand abhisheka for Thier Lordships Nitai Gauranga and distribution of chida-dahi maha-prasadam. An abhisheka is performed with milk, curd, ghee, honey, jaggery water and exotic fruit juices. The Deities also take a dip in the pond and are offered flowers as part of the abhisheka. The abhisheka is followed by a grand arati, after which the Deities are taken for a boat ride in the temple pond. Varieties of preparations are made by mixing chipped rice with condensed milk, yogurt, sugar, bananas, mangoes and assorted savories, just like Raghunatha Dasa prepared for the devotees. These are then offered to the deities of Nitai-Gauranga and distributed to the devotees.

Special Attraction of the festival: The Utsavar Deities Sri Sri Gaura Nitai of Gurgaon are carried from Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir for Braj Darshan along with the devotees during early morning hours. Devotees will to accompany/ participate can let us know in advance.

Yours in the service of Lord Sri Krishna,
VCM Communications,
Bhaktivedanta Swami Marg, Vrindavan
