Hey team,

I compiled a simple list of common traits among kickass DevOps-focused teams in a little website:

I'd love to start a discussion here. I know from conversations I've had so far some of these items can be a bit controversial, but that's what we're here for. It would be awesome to hear what you think, what you disagree or agree with!

Interesting structure with sections and tagged questions, allows for multiple dimensions.

"Our operational functions are seen as a source of competitive advantage. "
I like this one...

"Representation from our operations team is involved in development sprint planning. "
So you have a development team and an operations team. What if the operations specialists are part of the development teams? Sounds pretty devopsy to me, but there is no operations team.

"We have an automated system for running tasks and receiving notifications with our team chat. "
Seems a little specific. Why is a team chat something to tick for devops? What if the team is colocated with information radiators providing the same or better information sharing?

"We consult with auditors and regulators regularly and seek guidance when designing systems."
Also too specific. What if your business rarely or never is impacted by legal changes?

"We have a centralized instant message system including all members of our product team. "
That is one way to solve a problem of communication. Should not be limited to a specific solution.

will have a nother look later.. time is up for now.

Cheers
Johannes
