Hey guys,

First of all, welcome.
There aren't many of us at the moment, but I hope more people will
soon join.

I thought I'd share this presentation from Flickr I saw not long ago.
It talks at a pretty high level about DevOps as a state of mind, and
about how convergence between these two (occasionally) contradicting
fields (dev and ops) can help an organization react faster to demands.

http://www.slideshare.net/jallspaw/10-deploys-per-day-dev-and-ops-cooperation-at-flickr

it's worth a look I guess.
If you have seen (or created!) any other introductory material about
what DevOps is, do share :)

Thanks,
Oz

Hi,
Very interesting subject. There are some good presentations here
http://devopsdays.org/presentations but unfortunately no videos.
Perhaps in the future we will be able to arrange a meetup with
lectures on
the DevOps subject

Regards,
Evgeny

Hi,

Thanks for the link.
I did find an interesting presentation there, discussing Puppet deployment at scale:

http://devopsdays.org/events/2011-boston/proposals/cassandra%20and%20puppet%20-%20scaling%20data%20on%2015USD%20per%20month/

A pretty interesting  read, about how these guys provisioned a 72 node Cassandra cluster using puppet,
and what the implications were, on both sides of the rope (dev and ops).

Cheers,
Oz

DevOps in Israel? Sure, why not :-)

To keep up the context-sharing, here are a few of my own posts/
presentations on the subject:
* My first blogpost on the subject, trying to explain what the role is
all about before it gained traction as DevOps:
http://www.tomergabel.com/SwitchingR%C3%B4les.aspx
* A presentation included in the post:
http://www.slideshare.net/holograph/application-engineer-introductory-presentation
* DevOps: Organically Grown, No Preservatives (my two cents on what
DevOps is and why it's a critical role in software organizations):
http://www.tomergabel.com/DevOpsOrganicallyGrownNoPreservatives.aspx
* DevOps: Earth and a Sprinkle of Compost (a kick-off discussion on
how to build a DevOps team): http://www.tomergabel.com/DevOpsEarthAndASprinkleOfCompost.aspx

Would love comments on any of the points here, and/or ideas on what to
focus on next...

Some more vanity links, some of my own devops interviews/videos/podcasts and a hebrew blog I started on the topic (mainly Continuous Deployment stuff):
