UNIVERSITY LECTURERSHIP (NON TUTORIAL FELLOWSHIP) IN TURKISH

GRADE 36S, Stage 1 £42,563 - Stage 11 £57,201

The University proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Turkish
from 1 October 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter.  The University
Lecturer will be required to carry out research; to give lectures,
classes, and tutorials in modern (19th and 20th century) Turkish
texts, literature and history; to coordinate teaching at all levels;
and to examine, supervise graduate students, and play a part in the
administrative work of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The person
appointed may be offered a Governing Body Fellowship at St Antony's
College.

The successful applicant will hold, by the start of the appointment, a
doctorate in a related field, and have specialist expertise in one or
more fields of modern Turkish literature and culture. He or she will
possess a sufficient expertise in Turkish to use primary sources in
the original language for the study and teaching of Turkish studies;
and have a broad familiarity with the field of modern Turkish studies.
 He or she must demonstrate a commitment to research of the highest
calibre, and to publishing this research at the level expected by
international journals and major presses. He or she must also have
excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
