User Input with Devilspie

Is there a way in which we can accept the name of the application and the workspace/viewport number from the user,

then use that input to open the specified application in the specified workspace/viewport 

We are working on ubuntu.

or

after the user specifies the name of the application, the system should look for a workspace/viewport that doesn't have any other applications on it and then shift the user's application to that workspace/viewport.

any help would be appreciated.
