The manual at https://code.google.com/p/devide/wiki/HelpIndex is the
best place to start. Starting with
https://code.google.com/p/devide/wiki/HelpGraphEditor will take you
through the DeVIDE basics step by step.

That specific YouTube tutorial also pretty much takes you through all
the steps of leading data, segmenting and extraction STL
surfaces. However, segmentation on real-world medical data is quite
challenging. There are now 100% working "canned" solutions. Depending on
the data and the domain, new solutions have to be developed for every
single problem.
