Hi,

We are also thinking on the same lines. Some people are willing to share their devices, but they are hesitant to share because they need those for their own testing purposes. So we are thinking on placing donated devices at one single lab. And for rest we maintain a list of people willing to provide devices at their respective sites.

Looking forward for more opinions/view points.

Hi everyone

I've got a an idea to make the Cambridge ODL more accessible and I wanted get your opinions - mainly because it does mean decentralising the lab, I'll explain …

We have the same two main issues as all the other labs (getting people and devices), kind of a catch 22 situation but we do have a fairly large web community each with their own small collection of devices. Understandably they're hesitant in pooling their resources together in one place for various reasons and at the same time all of them want to be able to test on a variety of devices – this is where the idea comes into play – why not invite them to be "satellite" devices labs and we would become an admin hub?

This way there's a greater number of devices available to everyone and the companies still retain their devices inhouse. Does this sound feasible?
