Treatment of Fukushima Daiichi's huge inventories of radioactive water
is being provided by a range of private companies in an operation of
unprecendented scale, which is increasing still further. Over 250,000
cubic metres of water have been processed so far.

[8]Refurbished reactor cleared for restart

Bruce Power has received permission from the Canadian nuclear regulator
to restart unit 2 of the Bruce A nuclear power plant in Ontario, which
has been idle for almost 20 years. However, a minor leak during
start-up of the refurbished Candu reactor resulted in it temporarily
being returned to a shut down state.

A small number of steam generator tubes have failed pressure tests at
unit 3 of Southern California Edison's San Onofre Nuclear Generating
Station (SONGS) in California as the company investigates the cause of
a leak that has kept the reactor shut down for over six weeks.

EOn's annual report has made clear some of the impacts, financial and
environmental, of Germany's reaction to the Fukushima accident. The
utility recorded a €1.5 billion one-off cost for the overnight closure
