Second South Asian Regional Institute on the Study and Practice of Strategic Nonviolent Action

Park Village Resort, Kathmandu, Nepal

The South Asian Regional Institute on the Study and Practice of Strategic Nonviolent Action offers practitioners and scholars alike a great opportunity to learn about and reflect on ways to achieve social change nonviolently. Participants will learn during sessions from experts, case studies, and field trips, the power of non-violent actions to bring positive change of extant social injustices and power imbalances. This is a six days long residential course on nonviolent action. This is the second South Asian Regional Institute on the Study and Practice of Strategic Nonviolent Action. The first South Asian Regional Institute was successfully held in 2019 at Dhulikhel, Nepal.

Organizers: 

Center for Social Change (CSC), Department of Conflict, Peace and Development Studies at Tibhuvan University (DCPDS, TU), National Network of the Families of the Disappeared and Missing Nepal (NEFAD) and International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC).

Eligibility:

This institute is designed for practitioners, scholars, teachers, professionals, and other future peace builders across South Asia. This program is for representatives of civil society organizations, specialists from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, journalists, and all concerned citizens who are engaged in or curious about how nonviolent civil resistance movements and campaigns are especially welcome to apply.

Cost: The total cost of the program is USD 150. The program fee covers participation in the Institute, materials, certificates, and a field trip. Participants can apply for a scholarship if needed. Full or partial travel scholarship will be provided in need basis. **Registration fee of USD 50 is mandatory to all participants and is non refundable.
