Membership fees

Should we charge membership fees? It can allow for some extra great
possibilities - we can buy things together with the money (like I am
talking of buying the Foundation Directory Online) We can use them to
create a fund for loans for the organisations. They can go towards
the cost of registering the organisation. With enough members we
could even use them to hire someone to do fundraising for us.

On the downside we are organisations without much access to money at
the moment, so it might not be realistic to charge much.

Alex, I support that we shall membership fees so as to help us take care of the below requirements and further future needs. Can anyone suggest the amount if supported?

I am thinking at this point there could be associate membership - free
of charge, and full membership - 5 USD that would be enough to be
useful, but not too difficult to raise for people I guess. The full
membership would entitle the organisation to more focussed assistance
towards finding appropriate grants etc. The associate members would
be welcome to use the facilities that we set up, but would not receive
so much direct assistance.

Later on when we want to add other activities we might need to change
this, but for now it sounds reasonable no?
