The power and effectiveness of this group depends to some extent on
how many members we have. Should we be actively popularising
ourselves on twitter and with a website etc?

If so is anyone interested in taking on some of the work to do that?

Alex,

I am interested in taking some work to do...I can popularize it on my networks. Let me know what to be done...and i shall retweet it each time I see messages from you on Twitter regaing this.

I would write something like "Is your non-profit in need of support?
Are you involved in community development and wish you had more
assistance - then check out the Community Development Federation" and
then send the link...

But I guess you need to find your own style. What would you feel like
saying about it?

yeap, I got that clearly..there are many ways of pulling attention of interested persons. But your suggestions would be very useful for immediate start.

you could send out one tweet for each of the methods of fundraising
that I talked about in the files section

Method of fundraising 1 - ask for donations (then a link)
method of fundraising 2 - rotating loan fund (link)

etc.

or you could write:

"Community Development Federation - bringing together non-profits for
efficiency and fundraising"

or "Do you need help finding funds for you project - join the
Development Federation"

Does that give you something to start with? Where you planning to use
other media apart from twitter?

Thanks Alex again for that great input. I will be using Twitter, Plaxo, linkedin & Facebook at a time...and sometimes others.

Wait on this will you? I have just realised that there are some
issues with this forum. I might have to move it to a ning network.
So it is better if we don't invite lots of people and then have to
move them all...

Okay!..I hold my peace...you are right! I also thought of it. Little strategic planning(at least set up the foundation) for the foundation before going to the public.
