Dear colleagues,

We are excited to invite you to submit an article for the special issue we are co-editing on “Religion and Child Development” for the journal Religions. The journal has been included by the Arts and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) and is currently ranked in the 91st percentile in its category by Scopus. Religions is open access which enables a larger audience to view your work and the review process is highly efficient.

We seek manuscripts that represent work from a range of disciplinary perspectives (e.g., sociology, psychology, religious studies) and highlight contributions that can be made to the larger study of religion and child development. Manuscripts that have a focus within the following areas are particularly encouraged:

  1. Religious experiences from the child’s perspective
  2. The incorporation of child development into theories and models of religion
  3. The incorporation of children and families from diverse religious (and non-religious) backgrounds
  4. The use of multidimensional measures of religious experience
  5. How differences in rearing between and within religions affect child development

More information on the special issue can be found here: Religion and Child Development (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/religions/special_issues/child_religions)

Each article should be between 5,000-10,000 words and follow the guidelines of the journal. The abstract submission deadline is October 11, 2022, and full manuscripts are not due until March 20, 2023. An abstract of 250 words about the topic you have selected should be emailed to us (sha...@uhcl.edu or anonda...@unt.edu).

For further details on the submission process, please see the Instructions for Authors on the journal website (http://www.mdpi.com/journal/religions/instructions). The article should be uploaded to the journal webpage and will then be sent to reviewers. The journal mandates two outside reviewers for all submissions. Publication is normally 6-8 weeks after the final draft submission.

All articles published in Religions (ISSN 2077-1444) are published in full open access. To provide free access to readers, and to cover the costs of peer review, copyediting, typesetting, long-term archiving, and journal management, an article processing charge (APC) of 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs) applies to papers accepted after peer review.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Shaman & Anondah Saide
