Join us and other CMS teams July 18-20, 2023 at the virtual HL7 FHIR Connectathon.  

Blue Button 2.0 will give a brief update at 11 AM ET on July 18, and several CMS teams will also be presenting updates you may be interested in. View the full schedule here

This year we will not be running our own session/track, but there will be a track for the 3 other APIs within our family of claims data APIs at CMS. Information about this session is below.

BCDA, AB2D, and DPC Introduction and Workshop

The workshop provides hands-on experience with AB2D, BCDA, and DPC and guidance on using open source FHIRPath tools to extract and map FHIR Resources.

Workshop topics

  • AB2D, BCDA, and DPC overview and common uses
  • Make API calls using our developer sandbox, Postman collections, and sample clients
  • Use our new machine-readable Data Dictionary to extract and map data with FHIRPath expressions

What are AB2D, BCDA, and DPC?
What is AB2D?
Claims Data to Part D Sponsors API (AB2D) is a standards-based application programming interface (API) that delivers Medicare Part A and B data to standalone Prescription Drug Sponsors (PDPs) in order to improve enrollee care coordination and optimize therapeutic outcomes.

What is BCDA?
Beneficiary Claims Data API (BCDA) is a standards-based application programming interface (API) that delivers Medicare Part A, B, and D data for beneficiaries in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, Kidney Care Choice (KCC), and ACO REACH Alternative Payment Models.

What is DPC?
Data at the Point of Care (DPC) is a standards-based application programming interface (API) that helps providers gain and maintain a complete picture of their patients’ medical history by providing Part A, B, and D Medicare Fee-For-Service claims data to providers through their existing health IT software.
