Blue Button Patient IDs and MBIs

Hi,

Is Blue Button (authorization response or in FHIR resources) working with MBIs yet? Or are beneficiary IDs in authorization and resources still the generic Blue Button patient IDs?

Qui,

We are in the process of transitioning internally from using HICN to MBI. However, the Blue Button 2.0 API does not expose the HICN or MBI. It is only used internally for connecting the Medicare.gov beneficiary account with the data in the FHIR Server. The FHIR Patient.id install the best identifier to use since this is not changed by the FHIR Server after a patient record has been created for a beneficiary.
