Can't play titles from menu

Hi folks,

For the life of me I can't seem to get menus to work. I play the
resulting disk and the menu appears, yaay. But the arrow keys do not
select different titles, instead they behave as follows:

Up -> Start playing title one @ 1m30s
Down -> Play a blank, black screen for about 2s, then return to the
menu
Left -> Nothing (actually I suspect it is trying to skip back while
'playing' the menu)
Right -> Start playing title one @ 30s.

That's it, no way to select between titles.

I have tried both mencoder & ffmpeg. All titles are set to return to
menu once completed.

What am I doing wrong?? Thanks,

So I'm the only person this happens to? I google and get a few hits of
the same problem, oddly, spanning many years. Here's one such example

No ideas at all? I have tried everything :-(

I have played it on mplayer (linux), totem (linux), MythTV and, um,
one more linux player that I can't remember. They all behave in an
identical fashion. Are you thinking that this would work in a normal
DVD player? I actually don't own a DVD player (well, I do have one on
a shelf in the garage next to my VHS player, maybe I need to get it
down for testing purposes?).

I have tried many different video files in different formats but the
results are the same. MythTV makes a clicking noise like it is
starting to play some audio but quitting and re-starting again a few
seconds later in an endless loop. None of the titles ever get the
default selected color of cyan or whatever it was, none can be
selected :-(

Well I had some problems with the menus the other day
and I made a couple discs that had no menu on the Linux players,
so I started looking around for solutions and I found the the 3.21 had
that glitch,
but then I went and put the discs in a dvd player and they did show
the menu there
and played when I pressed played, although the menu picture was all
pixelated.
By the way, I use Ubunto 12.04, and that kind of thing started when I
upgraded.
I would try it in a dvd player if I was you.

I confirm, the title menu not work in Ubuntu 12.04 - devede 3.21.0
I tested on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits and 32 bits system !

I'm having a similar problem.  When I create the DVD and put it in a DVD player, it plays the Menu, with the sound.  I can move the cursor on the menu, but when I choose any title, I get the message "Invalid Disc" and it freezes.  All I can do then is eject the DVD. 

I have used DeVeDe many times before and it worked great.  I thought I'd have this project done over a week ago, but this has stopped me in my tracks.

Anyone have a solution?  I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and DeVeDe 3.21.0 from the Software Center. 

Very frustrating.
