Maybe you've seen this already, especially if you're a PHP aficionado. I'm not but I found this really cool.

You know HHVM, Facebook's virtual machine for PHP? One thing about virtual machines is, the allow a family of languages (that run on the VM) to be developed. JVM and the proliferation of JVM-based languages is a classic example.

Facebook has developed a new language, Hack, that potentially improves on PHP. Here's the launch blogpost. I haven't tried it (neither have I ever tried HHVM). But give it a shot and share your experience. Other PHP programmers over here can benefit.

Cheers,

It is always good to see companies trying to improve the tools that they have been using and making it available to the developer community. I am just hoping that one day a Ghanaian company, like Rancard which has been in the industry for 13yrs now, will release a new tool for the developer community.

As much as it depends on us let us be open with our source codes, for that is the way to develop a strong community and learning environment.
Let us all learn to share, share, share and share.
Happy coding days.

Regards,

Kirk Saviour

PHP is fundamentally flawed, in magnanimous ways that it's infamous to attempt a cure. You can treat my comment with some spite because "I don't know PHP". You may be right.

PHP 5.4 still has failing tests on the codebase http://gcov.php.net/viewer.php?version=PHP_5_4
And this is the biggest set of equals I have seen (apart from JavaScript's) http://i.imgur.com/pyDTn2i.png

If I were a PHP programmer, I'd be tinkering with Hack already.
