Microsoft seminar "First Steps in Windows 8 App Development"
Wednesday, October 9th at 6 p.m. in Garage48 HUB (Rävala pst 7, Tallinn)
There will be two talks that could be interesting for developers:
1. First Steps in Windows 8 App Development by Agu Suur (Garage48 Pärnu 2013 mentor)
In this introductory talk we will cover everything you need to know to get started developing Windows 8 apps. You will get an overview of the platform, the design language and the basics such as page navigation and fetching data to get your app off the ground.
This is a proper intro also for those who have never developed apps or written code, but would like to understand the soul of apps to plan ideas and know what is possible. We will also walk through a practical example of starting a new app for beginners with Windows Phone App Studio: http://apps.windowsstore.com/default.htm
2. "Raw Data Now! or How to Make the Web Better" by Kaiko Kaur (CTO of Zazler.net)
In this talk we will discuss how data influences the way we build apps for the web. The talk is inspired by the famous TED talk made by the inventor of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee (http://www.ted.com/talks/tim_berners_lee_on_the_next_web.html). Topics covered in this talk will include how to make systems co-work better, how to create externally extendable systems and how to develop faster. We will also briefly touch upon the topic of open data.
