Alright, we've had some traffic on this list with people asking how they can help with DevCamp, so here goes.
Most of the logistics and venue related items will be taken care of by our
friends at ThoughtWorks, who've been kind enough to host us again- yay ThoughtWorks!
Mayank
Jain has volunteered to design he T-shirts for the event; so, here's a
big shout out to Mayank. We'll be working that out on a
separate thread here. If any of you would like to help out with this or have design ideas, please feel free to post them to that thread.
What we really need help with right now is drumming up some visibility for the
event. While the
registration page
is filling up, we haven't gotten
nearly as many people as we did last time. We're almost up to a 100 as I
write this, but there's a whole month till the event! Of course, the
tendency is for that page to start filling up in the last couple of
weeks before the event, but a little push wouldn't hurt ;).
So,
we'd like your help to
spread the word and get people to sign up. Also, if anyone has trouble
adding their entry to the wiki, please do help them out yourself or
point them to us. And let people know that they can attend the event
even if they haven't registered on the wiki, we usually have some spare
capacity planned out. And even if you our your friend don't plan to
attend this time, get them to join the mailing list so that they can
stay abreast of updates about future events. I've assembled a bundle of links relating to DevCamp Pune here =>
http://bit.ly/gDA9rE, feel free to refer people to it. A couple of links in particular that I'd like to call out are:
One surefire way of getting people to sign up will be to add to our
proposals page. We already have a some big names up there like:
- Baishampayan Ghose (Infinitely Beta)
- Sidu Ponnappa (of RubyConf India fame); and
- Ajey Gore (Head of Technology, ThoughtWorks); as well as
- Chandra Challa, who is returning to speak for a second time in a row!
I am in conversation with a few other big faces in Pune IT circles and will update details as they materialize. If any of you know someone who you'd like to listen to and know others would be interested in, go ahead and point them here.
Nevertheless,
DevCamp isn't just about listening to the popular faces talk. It's a
great forum where any of you can share your projects, ideas and
experiences with fellow geeks and hackers, so don't hesitate to put up a
talk yourself. Also, if you're not up for a talk, you could set up a workshop or
hack session or even some OpenSpace discussion ideas.
Feel free to get back to us with any queries/concerns you may have.
Here's looking forward to meeting you at the camp! ;)
