"THIS MAKES ME ASSUME THAT NONE OF YOU HAVE THE CALIBRE OF WRITING SOMETHING WORTH!?. By stating this if you think that I may get lots of brickbats you are wrong. Our people are so docile that they are too meek to react to irritants."This is the content of the mail, i received from one of my friend where in Mr. B.G Mohan Das (Beeji) was very disappointed the way people of community have not provided the support which the www.devadiga.com deserves. I totally agree with this gentleman who has done very commendable work along with others need to be appreciated. Cheers Mr. Beeji and Team.
Now the very purpose of writing this comment is to find out ways to improve and add that 'zing' into this useful site. Let us try to collect and gather analyze how best we makes things better for our people.
Point 1:
First lets analyze (being a analyst myself thats what i do best:))
Why should i visit this site? or what makes this site so special that i need to keep visiting this site often?, or How this site is useful where in i can visit many popular site for various type of news???.....Many questions indeed?. So What to do…?
On my personal opinions what we need to do is first and most importantly we need to make a STRONG DATABASE of our people (both who are members or the family members.) By this activity we should have a very useful database of our own people whom can be contacted or reached for various activites which are targetted at the specific group of people (e.g: Conducting a workshop for young IAS/IPS aspirants, etc.) The extensive database will help us to do that (We failed to use the right talents for right job most of the time , I hope you’ll agree with me.). The database should contain all the relevent details which needs to be derived to include following and many more such details name, address, dob,fathername,mothername, education,phone, email, professional details,already a member, ......(list goes on…, hey this is
example…)
PS: Please add more comments to derive this database. and the way it should be captured from all the member and non members.
Point 2:
We already have a good domain name called 'devadiga' which should be used for create a online email accounts for all the members and non members alike. I would be very happy to use a email account like 'pras...@devadiga.com' then having a domain ‘pras...@yahoo.com’. Why we can’t use this domain name for this purpose which will bind us and instantly recognizes our people.
Having said that we need to re-design our site professionally which can work more as a dynamic data center then as a mere static bill board where you’ll have to revisit the site only to read the static contents (can provide more details/ideas if needed).
PS: Would appreciate more inputs on this regard (especially getting it professionally designed, especially feasibility of this idea?!!!) and i am ready to provide more technical details if required. Even if any of our younger Guns want to take it as their college project, i am ready to provide guidance.
Point 3:Matcher Maker-
I have one word. It sucks... ( of course, would really like to help this section ASAP, because it will help me, haha...;)). I don’t think It has helped many as people are very happy using a professional services like www.shaadi.com etc. Why cant we really makes use of this forum for such activities (despite offering it as a free services.)
Point 4:Job section:
This section really really need to be revamped by all those who are in position to contribute to this section, especially NRI's. This would be one section where any youth will keep coming for more as he may get a good references thru his/her own peoples.
Point 5:Workshops/seminars/guidance programmes:
We need to identify and educate our people not only thru conducting off line workshops also by providing vast knowledge base on various subjects and interests which will help younger generation to book mark this site for their reference. The Old guns can provide their experiences in various fields which will create a sort of good knowledge bank.
Each and every section can be improved with the participation from our people, to make such participation possible we can have campaign to collect the details of the our people who have access to ‘online’ thru a simple chain mails, but we need to ensure that these mails reach the right person at the right time (does my idea of Database ring any bells?).
I also want to assure Mr. Beeji that there is no dearth or shortage of good writing skills (any skills for that matter) but what measure have we taken to sharpen the skills of our young guns, have we ever conducted any sort of personality development programmes, or communication , creative writing skills or many more such skill development programmes on the behalf of 'Sangha' which is dominated by the ......

After seeing the ‘overwhelming’ response I think best way to proceed is to build the database at the earliest so that future activities can be organised or planned based on the total strength of the members who can be classified based on the individual skills and interest and ideology. How to do this?
First of all we need to build a 'centralised database' of all community members (all branches) this can be a achieved thru the all 'heads' of branches of sangha (I am not sure they have one in place in digital form, if not,then this will help them too, which help them for their own activities).
Need Volunteers:
1)For this activity we need some volunteers who can store all the information into a 'Repository' (central place). If Any volunteers are available and interested, they can mail me on my personal mail 'pras...@yahoo.com' so that a team can be formed and responsibilities can be shared among the team equally. Initially I will take the responsibility to collect and co-ordinate Team member’s information, later I will be more then happy to delegate to a suitable Team Lead. This Core Team can take up the responsibility in initiating and coordinating with contacts from various ‘sangha’ and the same team can be responsible to form a ‘Creative Team’ who will be solely responsible for keeping the www.devadiga.com site alive and kicking.
2) I will come up (soon, after I finish come pending work) with the letter draft which can be sent as a chain mail for volunteers, but if any volunteers are interested in doing the same, I am more then happy to handover this task.
3) Assuming that I get good response from fellow community members (within a month from this date, i guess one month is a good time to form a core team alone.) later we can conduct many activates based on the database across the different sanghas involved, e.g: Workshop on IT (where in the members are educated and encouraged in the field of IT to use the www.devadiga.com as a platform to showcase their talents, Personality development programmes, Public Speaking, Creative Writing, Talent hunts etc)
Following are my some of my concerns which I need clarification from any well wishers
Concerns:
1>Would like to know presently who are the people/webmasters/team behind the site and how far they are interested in the idea I have proposed and ready for change?
2>Are there any sponsors/well wishers available if such activity is initiated?
3> If the idea is only to collect the stories, poems and some of that kind of stuff, then I think I will shut my big mouth and let it pass, As I am not interested in just contributing some story to the site, I want to see this platform more as a proactive medium then just a static story board.
4> Need to know how many community members are there in Technology/Knowledge based backgrounds who can come up with the ‘out of the box’ ideas to promote the www.devadiga.com. Or at least support in whatever manner they can.
5> Does all/any of this things making some sense or again I opened my big mouth??? oops .
