The new years round the corner, Come let us resolve & march together
into 2007 with a
New Vision towards building a dynamic, progressive, educated,
prosperous & a united Devadiga community.
Gone are the days, when individuals and families lived like an island,
thought and evolved only for themselves. The present environment is to
share and care environment, where thoughts and skills are exchanged
universally for the betterment of mankind. A thought has been
circulating among the present generation that technology could be
better utilised to reach out to every members of our community
irrespective of their geographical location. With this in mind, we
have come up with the suggestion to update the current website
www.devadiga.com into a 'Web Portal'.
The Website has done a tremendous job in showcasing the community news
and other activities. But a 'Web Portal' would have many more
benefits , more importantly it will serve as a platform where all of us
can interact with each other, share information, and provide a network
of resource , to get the best inputs and put to use our available
skills, talents and expertise for the benefit of all.
To transform this idea into a reality, we appeal each one of you to
participate, support and contribute ...! No not money ... but with your
expertise, skills, talent, thoughts, imaginations ... and good will &
wishes.
We are on a hunt for Thinkers, Web designers, Programmers, cartoonist,
editors, creative writers, and journalists (even aspiring ones will
do), Chefs, and lots of others who can contribute towards making this
portal happen and keep it alive and kicking...in simple we are looking
for YOU.
Taking time off their daily routine, some amongst you are busy thinking
what we could do to, an act which will benefit and contribute to uplift
the Devadiga Community at large.
After a few brain storming session thru chain e-mails we have
identified two basic areas which will serve as a foundation for all
future developmental projects.
Building a Database - Why we need one?
A database is the core for a community, to bring together all her
people. It will enable good networking so that we can utilize our in
house skills and expertise for the benefit all thus making all projects
big or small cost effective. It will help networking and help bring
together the community members irrespective of their geographical
location.
Of course it will help communicate development projects to the right
audience.
For example we can conduct an Offline 'English Speaking course' for all
the students who are in the age group 10-16. But without knowing how
many community students require such help, the very purpose of
conducting such activities is defeated, more so wasting your valuable
time and other resources, So if we know whom to addresse we can help
better ...and this workshops/courses can be supported thru our
e-learning section in our web portal. As you can see here, we can
combine both online and offline activities which will make a
significant impact to the specific need of the community. (You can
think any such activity, and our portal will help you with your ideas.)
What it should contain? : typical membership details, may be more
specifications, contact details, of every devadiga on earth in digital
format for easy retrieval, to enable us to utilize his/her expertise
for mutual benefit . So suggest us what the database should contain?
Let us know your ideas.
Web Portal: Why the need?
A Web portal is a collection of web sites or service that offers a
broad array of resources and services, such as e-mail, forums, search
engines, and on-line shopping malls. The first Web portals were online
services, such as America Online (AOL), Yahoo, Google, MSN, etc. that
provided access to the Web, but by now most of the traditional search
engines have transformed themselves into Web portals to attract and
keep a larger audience.
I am sure many of us must have wished for something more & interesting
at the website, to share our skills, our experiments & thoughts with
others, receive and voice opinions.
On a subject, you can have an e-mail id like... m...@devadiga.com, family
magazine/tree, find solutions to IT problems, cooking problems,
innovative design /craft, shaadi.com on devadiga website, e-learning,
travel section -sharing travel experience... portal as a guide,
ladies, teen section, information on book bank, finance schemes etc...
etc... the list is endless... in fact anything that can benefit to all.
We can also come together and strike deals with others, community
services, institutions etc, so that all of us could benefit... United
we stand....and reach for the stars... the sky is the limit.

Mission:
Provider of a social and cultural platform which provides an
opportunity to devadiga community members living in any part of the
world to utilise his/her expertise, experience and skills towards
building up a prosperous community, through advocacy
and cooperation and make devadiga community self-sufficient. To,
harness, encourage and showcase hidden talents and provide them a
common platform to flourish. Motive the achievers by offering a
community platform and help. This would be achieved by strong
networking, resource planning and sincere motive to serve, through this
community portal www.devadiga.com (ww.devadiga.org)
Objective:
1. To, unite all Devadigas irrespective of their geographical
locations.
2. To, provide a platform to promote Devadiga culture and language and
preserve Devadiga heritage.
3. To, provide a platform which will be used for an interaction amongst
members of the community.
4. To, provide a platform which will offer guidance to members of the
community in pursuit of their vocation or knowledge.
5. To, promote awareness of social problems of Devadiga community such
that it will raise the collective consciousness of the community to
deal with the same.
6. To, create awareness of sustainable participatory integrated
development among Devadigas and achieve it through resource
mobilisation.
7. To, strengthen and support Devadiga community members to develop
strong technical, educational and other skills in different fields of
life at all levels.
But all this & more can happen when we all get together and contribute
NO... something more than money....a little bit of time... an idea ,
your relevant skills, your participation and support and the most
valuable YOU.
Therefore let us not miss this opportunity , We appeal and request you
all people -young and Young at heart , teenagers , professionals or
not so professional, affluent or non affluent -of the Devadiga
community to come forth with their ideas ( either related to Design,
procedure , layout or anything ) to any of the existing projects namely
the proposed portal /database ./ book-bank. /medical insuarance scheme.
or come forth with any new ideas that will go a long way to empower
ourselves..to build and generate a strong network of able humans of the
devadiga community
Our community is for all of us, by us, to us, with us....
So come let your views, opinions, idea., skills , imaginations,
thoughts and deeds ... take the plunge... in to this forum..
