Dear B.G ,
please forward this e-mail to the heads of the different sanghas, if its possible for them to go ahead and implement the below project/place it to draft the modality.... more at a practical level. its december... if they start now the project can start flying this april/may 2007..
.
Brilliant Idea...
1) Book Bank: The students once on completing their studies, can donate their (un)used text books for the benefit of other less privileged students, thus sharing the burden of buying the new books all the time ( In fact even we can keep a special 'award' for best maintained book by the student while donating the books to encourage the students to pass the goodies). -
Secondly we can collect the good books on various topics+ books written by our community people etc. can form a book library, + good journals and novels, and other literature books can be donated (by privileged members) to maintain our own library, which can be borrowed by our own members (infact when a member is registered he should be given automatic access to this library to borrow these books), The borrowing can done across different sangha's with the help of our website/portal (this is a food for thought). But Policies and different modalities should be disscussed to derive a practical solution. But Book Bank/knowledge bank, a definite 'must' for a progressive community.
sarita says-
these kind of projects (PROJECT MENTIONED BELOW) need to be implemented more practically and the subject needs to be placed in the meetings for all the members ... to circulate the message to the community people ... definitely not all visit the web....
Step 1 -All sanghas to be notified. ... for action and to decide on a place to store the books.
All social functions to communicate the message.
- to utilise retired people as resource to sit and assist in maintaining the library for small fees ... and appoint some one only for June -to september to monitor the flow of school book.
- document required ( report card of the student for submitting & receiving books...) also memnbership no. of student required.....( students should become members - charge free...) what say.....
