Does Deuce support flat/open/closed nesting?

Hi,
    I am pretty new to the area, but I am very interested in learning
the related idea. So Would any one explain what does
flat/open/closed nesting mean, please?
Or give a high level abstract about what their characteristic are?
Or point me to any of the references, please?
