Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Matematik Bölümü Seminer ilanı
Tarih: 10 Mart 2011, Perşembe
Saat: 14:00
Konuşmacı: Daniel Selahi Durusoy
Başlık: Alternating Knots and their Polynomials
Özet:
A major question in knot theory is how to distinguish knots. This is usually accomplished by computing an invariant of knots. In this talk we will introduce one of the earliest invariants, namely the Alexander polynomial, restricted to alternating knots from a couple of different viewpoints and consider the problem of solving $\Delta_{K}(t) = p(t)$ for integral polynomials in terms of existence and uniqueness. This talk will involve many diagrams and is suitable for mathematics students.
