Since finding that the lower-surface leading-edge tape modification alone adds significantly to the performance of Wortmann wings, such as those on Standard
Cirrus gliders, others have been encouraged to try this mod on their gliders. For a summary and tabulation of their comments go to www.deturbulator.org/participants.asp.
Two have initiated projects of their own. These have pages on The Deturbulator Project website.
Jari Hyvärinen and his daughter, Anne, have started a serious research effort to understand, describe and model all of the deturbulator component effects. Their page is at www.deturbulator.org/Hyvarinen.asp. It contains a link to a preliminary report of their progress.
Also, Aaron Kiley and Tom Shipp are testing their Standard Cirrus glider both to discover performance issues and to evaluate the lower-surface tape. Their page is at www.deturbulator.org/kileyshipp.asp.
You are invited to peruse the feedback from seven participants (www.deturbulator.org/participants.asp) and checkout the two project pages.
