Jari,

Installed new instrumentation today. Sampled Pitots at .035", .085", .135" and .185" heights at .125 chord.

Two flights. Sink rate measurements with full span lower surface tapes. First flight with clean upper surface LE, second with tape around LE in front of the probe. Took one kt speed increments around the performance notch. Will know next week what I got.

George,

I would like to see those mice. Let me know if you can find them. I plan to let the data indicate whether I need to go to smaller tube sizes. I am not looking for a precise measure of the boundary profile, but evidence of flow velocity increase and premature detachment with the LE tape. My larger tube size may suffice for that.

Thanks for your interest. Comments and suggestions welcome.

Looks like Raspet rides again. Reminds me of my youth helping with RFRL flights.
Keep up the good work. I will check to see if any of the "mice" still survive. There used to be several much smaller that what you are using.

Jari,

Quick note.  Sink rate measurements from two flights Saturday confirm performance from lower tape from 40 to 55 kts with two to three points per speed.  48, 49, 50, 51 nd 52 kt points reveal a notch like the top surface notch, this one at 48 kts where performance returns to baseline.  ("Curiouser and curiouser.")  33% relative humidity measured in cockpit.  Graphs soon.

Cool Jim,

It will be interesting to see how it works.
