Hello Detroit Droid Dev User group

Hello Everyone

My name is Dave Turner. I am looking to expand my skill set into the
Android Platform and a user group is a good way to go.

As far as a specific topics goes.. I am interested in gobbling up as
much Android knowledge as possible so I am ok with whatever.

If needed I could probably come up with some after working hours
meeting space in Farmington Hills.

Thursdays nights work best for me as far as meeting night go but I can
do whatever is best for the group.

Looking forward to getting the group moving.

Hi Dave,

Glad you are joining us. This brings up the dreaded, Where and When
conversation.

WHERE
Don can get space at Quicken Loans, which is in the Compuware building
and I think I can get space at the Madison which is about a block from
the Compuware building. Don works at Quicken and I work at Detroit
Labs in the Madison. Meeting in one of these two locations will make
it much, much easier to organize.

WHEN
There are so many user groups these days, it is much harder to pick a
monthly cycle. It seems like later in the week will be better.
Thursday sounds good to me. How about the second Thursday of each
month?

How does everyone else feel about that?

Is there any interest in meeting twice a month? We could have
presentation on day each month and then have more hands at the second
meeting.

I think the 2nd Thursday sounds pretty good. Perhaps in the beginning,
to help grow membership, a twice a month meeting might be a good idea.
But I think that over time that isn't going to work, just because of
all the other dev groups in Detroit.

Somebody should put together a list of all the Detroit area dev
groups... it would be nice to have a consolidated list (especially for
people new to Detroit like me). I think I'll start a google doc for
that.

Thanks Dave, I think there would end up being some overlap if we have none tech talks.   I also noticed that is also the Detroit Ruby groups day.

Hello all:

My suggestion would be the second Wednesday of the month. Looking at the one calendar I know of with monthly user group meetings (on Stout Systems website - http://stoutsystems.com/blog/?page_id=116) it looks like the second Wednesday is not too busy (2 meetings/month). 

I know this site is not the most up-to-date but it is the best I know of at the moment.
