The Brewers signed 21-year-old OF prospect Luis Lara, who is dominating AAA (and is the youngest player in AAA, Max Clark is 2nd-youngest) to a 7-year extension today for $31 million with club options that could make it go up to $79 million. Lara is the 3rd prospect
the Brewers have given a long-term extension to before playing in the majors (OF Jackson Chourio, SS Cooper Pratt and now Lara).
Lara, who is a switch hitter, is hitting .338/.447/.500 with 7 homers in 247 PA for AAA Nashville this year. He has more walks than strikeouts (39/32) and 18 stolen bases in 22 attempts.
Somehow I don't think the Brewers will turn Chourio, Lara and Pratt into platoon players.
