6-Man Rotation

Hinch announced that he'll be going to a 6-man rotation for the next 13-game stretch.  Montero is scheduled to start Wednesday vs. the Cubs.

I'm happy for Montero to be able to start again, but he was effective in the bullpen and could be missed in that role.

So much for that. Flaherty was placed on the IL this afternoon with right flexor inflammation. Ty Madden has been recalled.

I was kidding about Madden, of course, but didn’t realize he actually is in Chicago and is in the game! 

Valdez didn’t get out of the 1st inning.  Cubs scored 6 runs.  Ugh.

Possibly excuse for Valdez is that he was coming off the bereavement list due to the death of his grandmother, whom he was very close with.

Perhaps he was in a tough place emotionally and mentally.  In retrospect, Hinch possibly should have had Valdez skip this start.
