Keider Montero is starting for Venezuela in their WBC semi-final game on Monday vs. the surprising Italian team. Ex-Tiger Michael Lorenzen is scheduled to start for Italy.
Yesterday Venezuela beat Japan 8-5 to advance to the semis. Gleyber Torres was 2-4 with a double and an RBI.
Lefty Emmanuel DeJesus, who recently was added to the Tigers' 40-man roster, pitched 2.1 shutout innings in middle relief with 3 Ks, including striking out Shohei Ohtani. Nice!
USA plays the Dominican Republic in the other semifinal this evening.
Paul Skenes is starting for the US and Luis Severino is starting for the DR.
