Lee has a 4.10 ERA in 37.1 innings with Detroit. I was surprised to see that he had pitched that much for the Tigers. He’s pitched 23.1 innings for the Hens.

And it sounds like the Tigers will be shuffling the roster through the end of the season, according to multiple reports, so Lee and Malloy could both be in Detroit temporarily.

Lee had a 8.71 ERA in his last 9 appearances with the Tigers before being sent down and has been awful with Toledo.  He was surprisingly effective for the first 2 months with the Tigers but he started getting pummeled after that.  His sidearm style was working and then it wasn't.

Only reason he was called up was that he's on the 40-man roster and relievers Lange and Horn have to complete their 15-day stay in AAA before being called back up.  I suspect Lee won't be with the Tigers very long.

Malloy needs to show he's more than just a AAAA player.  He got a pinch hit at-bat today but popped out.

Jahmai Jones went 4-5 today and has basically been what we had hoped Malloy would be this season. Better fielder, too.

Right, I thought Jones would be the AAAA player, but he's been more useful than that.

Malloy just hasn't done much when he's been up with Detroit.  His batting averages have been low, strikeout rates high, and he hasn't hit for much power.  He draws a lot of walks and forces the opposing pitchers to throw a lot of pitches, which has some value, but for a DH you want more than that.

The only defensive position where he's passable is 1B, which means he's stuck behind Tork in Detroit.  He does play some corner outfield, but you don't really want him out there very often.

I think Malloy will likely be traded in the offseason.  He doesn't really fit with the Tigers.  Although I could see him going to the A's and putting up big numbers there.

SGL is scheduled to start on Tuesday.  I assume Sommers will be sent down to make room.

Lee sent down to make room for SGL, who is starting tonight.
Sommers survives another day.  Lefty Bailey Horn is eligible to be recalled starting tomorrow so it's possible they swap Sommers for Horn.

Bailey Horn got called up today.  Drew Sommers sent down.
Horn has pitched 1 inning and counting tonight.
