Right, I thought Jones would be the AAAA player, but he's been more useful than that.
Malloy just hasn't done much when he's been up with Detroit. His batting averages have been low, strikeout rates high, and he hasn't hit for much power. He draws a lot of walks and forces the opposing pitchers to throw a lot of pitches, which has some value,
but for a DH you want more than that.
The only defensive position where he's passable is 1B, which means he's stuck behind Tork in Detroit. He does play some corner outfield, but you don't really want him out there very often.
I think Malloy will likely be traded in the offseason. He doesn't really fit with the Tigers. Although I could see him going to the A's and putting up big numbers there.
