Tigers lead 6-2. I'm going to be REALLY annoyed if Hinch doesn't stick with Montero.

Montero with a 1-2-3 11th and the Tigers win 6-2!  I would say they stole this, but they never should have been in extra innings to begin with.  I hope the Drew Anderson as closer experiment has mercifully ended (and I kind of like Anderson, but he seems better suited as a long reliever or even starter).

Seriously, Montero should be closer while he's in the pen.  The guy is tough as nails.  I've always thought he might make a good high-leverage reliever.

I admit, I thought this game was lost once Melton left and we only had a two run lead. Thought I'd be proven right in the 9th and 10th but the Tigers hello on. Great job in the 11th by the offense and as mentioned, great work from Montero as well.

I watched the bottom of the 9th inning.  Anderson got the leadoff man, Bellinger, to ground out to Lee at 2B to start the bottom of the 9th on a 1-1 98-mph fastball.
Rosario then hit a solo homer on a lower-inside slider on a 1-1 pitch.  Anderson's first pitch to Rosario was a 98-mph fastball way up and in.  He came back with the slider but Rosario crushed it on a rope into the LF seats.

Chisholm then hit a 1-1 change-up pretty hard to Tork that he could have made the play on, but the ball deflected off his glove for a single.  If Tork makes that play there are 2 outs and nobody on base with Volpe coming up and a 2-1 lead.

I don't know what Anderson was thinking but he never even paid attention to Chisholm at 1st, and Chisholm easily stole 2nd.  On the next pitch Anderson never even looked at Chisholm as Chisholm took a huge running lead at 2nd and Chisholm basically walked into 3rd base with no throw from Rogers.  Anderson then uncorked a wild pitch while pitching to Volpe to score Chisholm.   Anderson just seemed like a nervous wreck in the moment and totally lost focus.  Rogers should have gone out to talk to him after Chisholm stole 2nd.

Anderson has good stuff but he makes too many mistakes with his breaking and offspeed pitches.  I think in that situation he should just let his fastball rip.  He can throw it 99-100 mph.  He has the best fastball velocity and most "swing and miss" stuff in the bullpen.

Volpe ended up getting a hit in his at bat in the bottom of the 9th. He tried to steal and get the winning run into scoring position but the Tigers caught him. I didn't see it, but I know I think it went to a replay; unsure if it was a poor jump by Volpe and/or if Rogers made a particularly good throw.

Rogers and Anderson finally paid attention to the runner at 1st.
