Ketel Marte

Several reports from the winter meetings have the Tigers in the trade mix for Ketel Marte.  Marte is coming off consecutive strong seasons, has a generally favorable contract and will be 32 next season.  He's also been ...(wait for it)... quite versatile in his career, playing 2B, CF, and filling in at SS occasionally.  

His defense has been declining with age though.  So maybe the Tigers could trade for him and then use him as a platoon 1B/DH guy.  Because we all know how important defense is.

Marte has never played 3B.  He'd be more useful if he could play 3B or if the Tigers could convince Torres to try 3B so Marte could play 2B.  Marte last played CF in 2021 and was way below average.

Marte is signed through 2031 so I suppose he could take over 2B for Torres after Torres leaves in 2027.
