I see Hinch is already in 12 D chess mode, removing Holton in the first inning tonight after facing just 3 hitters. Gave up a lead off single, then got the next two hitters no problem, but of course needs to come out of the game for…why?

It's looking like 2024 all over again.  Hinch's Bullpen Chaos has allowed 0 runs through 6 IP.  Holton, Hanifee, Hurter and Vanasco so far.

Tigers lead 2-0 in the bottom of the 6th.  Tork with a 2-run shot against Leiter in the 5th.  We need more BISN.

Well, Ricky Vanasco's scoreless streak quickly ended as he allowed a run in the top of the 7th. The Tigers fortunately survived the Vanasco experience with only 1 run allowed.  His control was awful but somehow he got out of the 7th with only allowing 1 run.  Vanasco had poor command of his curveball and change-up, and his fastball was only in the low 90s.  Not sure how he had a huge K rate in AAA, unless AAA hitters swing at everything.

Tigers lead 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th.  Need more BISN.

His pitches have a lot of movement. He overthrew at times which led to the wildness but generally looked pretty decent.

A 6-run lead was plenty BISN.  Tigers win 7-1.  They beat up on our old buddy Tyler Alexander in the 8th with 4 runs (3 charged to Alexander) to take the pressure off.

Jack Leiter actually was pretty dominant at times (10 Ks and only 1 walk in 6.2 IP) but the Tigers still managed 5 runs against him.  He made a couple of mistakes on 2 strike counts that the Tigers punished, and he was probably left in too long.

McGonigle goes 2-4 with RBI singles in the 6th and 7th, so his "mini slump" is over.

Jake Rogers with a rare offensive contribution, going 2-3 with a triple and a single.

So Hinch is 1-0 with Pitching Chaos this season.  I assume Mize might miss another start (or maybe 2) so we'll see Pitching Chaos again in Mize's next turn.

Check that, the Tigers beat up on Alexander in the *7th*, not the 8th, to take the 7-1 lead.

Will be interesting to see if Vanasco can get away with a low-90s fastball against major league hitters.
His curve and split-change are his out pitches, but he'll need to have better command of them otherwise hitters will crush the fastball.

Great job by Hurter tonight, pitching 3 1/3 scoreless innings. He has been in the right place at the right time so far this season, with a 4-0 record. Better than any of the starters :-)

ERA of 1.50 too.
